We are pleased to share with you the NFL Player Care Foundation’s Annual Report covering the 2023 fiscal year. We hope the publication provides you with a broader understanding of our work and the contributions we have made to improve the quality of former players’ lives since our inception in 2007.
The PCF's dedicated Board of Directors and its Staff are proud of how far the Foundation has come and the number of lives we have touched. To that end, we also remain committed to evolving with our former player community and educating the public on the complex issues that impact our retirees and their families. It has been a privilege to give back to those whose contributions have helped advance this great game and teaming with our wonderful partners who enable us to serve our retired player community most effectively.
The 2022 fiscal year represented something of a return to normalcy as PCF's flagship Healthy Body & Mind Screening Program was re-launched following a two year layoff due to the COVID-19 pandemic. PCF celebrated the 5th anniversary of its rapidly growing Career Programs and introduced four new board members as part of it's leadership team - Carlie Irsay-Gordon, Dr. Tricia Bent-Goodley,
Ronnie Barnes, and Will Shields.
This was a unique year for the Player Care Foundation (PCF), with the emergence from an ongoing global health crisis coupled with a new funding stream that provided more stability than ever before. As a result, unparalleled growth by way of new programs and improvements to existing programs allowed PCF to better fulfill its commitment to our mission.
This past year was unique for the NFL Player Care Foundation (“PCF”). As the world struggled with a health crisis and consequent economic upheaval, PCF responded with leadership and passion foundational to its core mission.
Since its inception, the NFL Player Care Foundation (“PCF”) has assisted former players who have made important contributions to the popularity and success of professional football. Throughout the last decade, the Foundation’s efforts were most evident in the financial grants and medical screenings offered.
For more than 10 years the NFL Player Care Foundation (“PCF”) has helped struggling former players get back on their feet by providing financial grants, medical screenings and, more recently, scholarships and vocational training. We are proud to serve as a resource for retired players in need, helping improve the quality of life for them and their families.
2018 marked the 10th anniversary of the NFL Player Care Foundation (PCF). In 2008 PCF completed its first-full year as an independent, 501(c) (3) non-profit foundation dedicated to improving the quality of life of former NFL players. We seek to accomplish our mission by providing financial assistance to those in need and conducting health-related research for their benefit.
Since the inception of the NFL Player Care Foundation (PCF) in 2007, the organization has remained committed to improving outreach and impact to better serve retired players. Having assisted more players and provided more financial grants than ever before, 2016 was a benchmark year for PCF.
